Welcome back all. Finally, it’s time to re-launch this collection of either extremely handy or utterly irrelevant information about Britain’s probably most underrated, continually discontended and seemingly most underachieving artist around (no, not Pete Doherty), one Stephen Jones, the creator of beautiful pop ballads, eerie instrumentals, literary weirdness and readymade DIY low cost home recordings. So why the long wait?

The first single from the coming Babybird album was previewed on BBC6 Music today. Sounds Bugged!
It finally seems that the long wait is about to come to an end and that there actually is an album waiting for release in September.
BBC 6 Music’s Giddeon Coe was the first to play a song – Snails - from the album, probably the first single from the album.
I’ve been listening the track about 20 times on my earphones now, and it’s actually pretty good and – as one could only expect - extremely melodic, if a tad traditional to my taste. Basically, it sounds like it’s right back to where Bugged finished off and ACOS has been long forgotten (hope that is not the case!). At least I can’t hear that 6 years have passed here.
And I’m happy to learn that SJ’s genius touch of combining the miserable with pure bliss hasn’t left him at all. Look forward to lyrics like “When you go away I’ll try and find someone else/But I fail, I fail, I fail/And if you came back You’ll hold my heart like a giant crushing snails” – along a sing-a-long chorus that will stay between your ears for weeks.
The album title, Between My Ears There is Nothing but Music, was also revealed today along with release date on September 11th. Make a bloody big mark in your calender on that date, people.
Coe called the song a timely reminder of what an excellent songwriter Stephen Jones is, and many examples are found when the album comes out in september.
I haven’t been able to find out which label is going to put it out, but as soon as any news comes in you can find it here of course.Gig in Edinburgh – The first proper gig in 6 years!

Finally, ACOS is out after so much delay, so go and buy this great record wherever you can. I’m still waiting for my copy to turn up in the mail, so I have yet to see the artwork, though I have been listening to it since October or so in the two available versions.
The equally long-awaited website at www.arthritiskid.com was launched to coincide with the album release, but unfortunately it still looks more like a black hole of non-being (with most links directing back to the old site) than something created to make one dig deeper into the surreal world of SJ’s music. Looks like we have to wait just a little longer for what was initially promised so long ago.
Concerning this site, I have updated The Story So Far section with some reviews of the new album. Most of them have already been posted in the forum at the official site, and obviously I’m searching for more texts to include. If you find the time, you are always welcome to mail me the links or transcriptions of new stuff.
At last, The Bad Pages have now been online for two months now, so I just want to thank all those who have taken off time to browse through the sections (about 25 a day – a lot more than I expected!). So keep mailing me your additions, corrections and all sorts of suggestions. In the near future I will include some dynamic pages and try to find time to write the last sets of reviews, and also the design will see some functional changes to replace the old html codes with more advanced features. Just have to find out how to do this…
That’s all for now…now go back and listen to ACOS!!!
