Not one to blow his own horn

The power of Babybird rediscovered…by Babybird.

stephen_sunglasses_2011 Some interesting thoughts from Stephen himself posted on his Facebook profile yesterday. Not like we the choir didn’t know all this. But still…

“I have rediscovered the power of Babybird. It doesn’t involve selling albums but is in the absolute magnificence of LOVE LOVE LOVE & IN THE COUNTRY (both b-sides) & TAKE ME BACK & SHOUTABOUT. Part of a very big list. Usually I am not one to blow his own horn (tho many a man have tried in vain. I guess they get a lady, another man or a Hoover to do that) and I will always be first to criticise Babybird (as it’s the owners right to do so) but why oh why have only a tiny smattering of folk heard them.
To my dying day I will never know. But I guess if my five-year-old is sat in the back of my car screaming out the lyrics to songs off the new album, then surely that is pleasure enough.
But I think too much and there lies the dilemma, thinking that if an average song like you’re gorgeous could be heard by so many then why not the others of which 99% are better.”

If you’re still not in the tiny shattering group of folk who have heard songs like Love Love Love and In the Country, b-sides on the Out of Sight single back in 2000, you can stream both of them here
